Grand Knights Message

We just had our annual council fishing trip at Minne teepee Resort on Woman Lake. The fishing was very good this year. I lost our cribbage tournament, but at least I beat Jeremy. However, I must concede, he caught more fish than me. Including the rare Minnesota Buffalo fish.

Our Second Sunday breakfast and October steak fry was cancelled due to the repair of the arches in the hospitality center.

The Hospitality Center arches repair has been pushed back and our Second Sunday breakfast and steak fry are both back on. Please contact either myself or Don Hosford if you are willing to volunteer for the breakfast. Please reach out to Al Loerzel for the steak fry.

Al's contact is lecturer@kc5141.org

Feed My Starving Children will be happening on Tuesday, October 29th from 5:00 to 6:30 PM with dinner at Muddy Cow to follow.

Vivat Jesus!

Auxiliary News
Welcome to the start of our 2026-2027 season. This year marks 60 years of being an auxiliary! I am very proud and honored to be the president for this year.
Thank you to everyone who showed up to our pizza party with the men prior to the start of our meeting. It was great to see everyone and discuss how our summers went. Thank you to the men for hosting and buying the pizzas.
At the meeting, we had multiple large topics to discuss. One of them was Turkey BINGO. This year, the church is making repairs to the arches that support the ceiling of the gym in the hospitality center. Initially, these repairs were scheduled to start in October but have since been pushed back to start on November 9th. Due to the start date being pushed back into November, we can not host our Turkey BINGO in the gym. We discussed multiple options, but ultimately decided to cancel Turkey BINGO for this year. I will send an email to the church so that this cancelation can be put in the newsletter.
Another topic from our meeting was the State Fall Meeting. This meeting is on Saturday, October 10th, with registration starting at 8:30 am. This year’s fall meeting is being held by the Bloomington Auxiliary at the Church of St. Edward. Their theme is “Walking with Jesus,” and their speaker is from the Twin Cities Prison Ministry. I am excited to hear about this day at our next meeting.
Our last big topic from this month’s meeting was who we wanted to make a large donation to. Last year we were able to raise a large amount of funds via all of our activities, and it was proposed at our May meeting that we could do some real help for our community by making a larger donation. Over the summer, many ideas were thought of and brought to our September meeting for discussion. After a long debate, we decided to make two donations for our community. We voted on “A Place of Grace” - a community outreach program here at St. Tim’s where those who need some help can come and get help and a light meal twice a week- and “Helping Paws” – a dog training facility that helps individuals receive trained dogs for things such as anxiety and PTSD, being para- or quadriplegic, or even those working in education facilities and courthouses. The donation to “Helping Paws” will be in honor of Melissa and Mark Hortman.
Things that are coming up:
1) The October steak fry is back on, now that the construction has been pushed back into November. Please email or call Al Loerzel if you wish to attend so that he can have accurate numbers when going to buy the steaks and chicken. The cost is $20 per person.
2) Feed My Starving Children is Thursday, October 29th at 5 pm. There are plenty of jobs for all ages and abilities. Please contact Steve Silverdahl if you wish to attend. (They also tend to go to the Muddy Cow afterwards too!)
3) Our next meeting is Thursday, October 17th. We will start at 7 pm, after steak fry.

Thank you.

FS Notes
Have you moved, have you changed your phone number, have you made a change to your email address? Please keep the council updated when you have a change of address, change of phone number and finally a change to your email. It really helps us to keep track of where to send things to you. If you have any changes, please forward them onto the FS.

Please look at the back of your membership card. What do you see? It has my contact info. Please make sure your loved ones know this in case you are sick or have passed away.

Former Officers,
The FS is looking for Council Jewels that you may have in your possession. Please turn them in as soon as possible. Bring them to the office at St. Tim’s, we have a mail slot that they can be left in. Thank you.

Members in hospital etc.?
Please contact the FS so that the council can send a card.

Here is a reminder to send me your service hours as often as you would like. Many hours go by each day that we never hear about. Each day we all volunteer our time doing something above and beyond.

Membership Cards and Dues
It is not too late to send in your dues for this council year. As of today, there are 7 members who have not done so. Eventually you will be contacted by one of the trustees.

Please stand by for an important announcement from the Grand Knight

Safe Environment
The parish has asked us to provide regular training on Safe- Environment Guidelines for those that volunteer with us at Knights of Columbus events. Beginning this month, we will include these guidelines in the guidepost as an ongoing reference, outlining best practices for maintaining a safe and respectful environment. Please read the attachment at the end of the Guidepost to familiarize yourself with these guidelines.

Thank you! You may now return to your normal browsing of the Guidepost.
