Grand Knight’s Message

As I am writing this article, the city of New Orleans is starting to dry out and people are starting to move back. Keep the victims of hurricane Katrina in your prayers and thoughts as we work and live our daily lives.

Since the last membership meeting we had our family night at the dome, which was really successful. Thanks to last minute add ons, forty one people enjoyed a great game with the Twins winning 1-0. The only Twins hit was the homerun that won the game. The game lasted 2 hours and 8 minutes, which meant everyone got home around 10:30.

In September, the St. Tim’s Carnival was quite successful. Income was down 5% from last year due to the hot weekend and a windy Saturday. I would like to thank everyone who worked especially Al Loerzel, Vern Shereck and Leland Karels who were in charge of a shift.

The KC men’s fishing trip had a small turnout due to conflicts in members’ schedules. Despite this, Steve Silverdahl did a great job in organizing the trip. Sounds like everyone had a great time.

Going into October, the Marathon for Non- Public Education and the 2 nd Sunday breakfast will be starting. We will also be having the social activity of the month which will be the fall steak fry. Let’s support some of these activities. See separate articles on these activities. Have a good October.

Ladies Auxiliary

October 2005

This year the fall work shop will be hosted by the Lakeville Auxiliary on October 15 th. Registration is from 8 am to 9 am. The living Rosary will be outdoors weather permitting.

There is a need for volunteers for Special Olympics fall classic November 11-13. Help is needed for all 3 days. Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner, Sunday breakfast and dinner. Anyone interested call me for more information. See related article.

As usual the pot luck was a big hit. Everyone had plenty to eat. Thanks to all the ladies, you did a great job.

Prayer Concerns

For the father in law of Al Loerzel who entered the nursing home.

For the brother of Leland Karels who had 3 stints implanted.

For the nephew of Bob Cuddigan who is in very poor health due to Leukemia.

For Lenny Resler who is recovering from shingles.

For the father of Tom Fluegel who entered a nursing home.

We pray for all these people and for all our families and friends.

Special Olympics

Fall Classic Bowling Tournament

In November our council is being asked to provide 10 people to help at the State Special Olympics Bowling Tournament. Not all volunteers need to be Knights; a family, a parent and child can all help. The date is November 13th, the time is 8:00 am until 1pm at Wells Lanes Bowling Alley in South St. Paul. Anyone interested please call Dick Dols.

2 nd Sunday Breakfasts

The first one will be held on October 9 th at St. Tim’s hospitality center. Shifts are 7 to 10:30 am and 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Please call Garry Hallman to let him know of your interest to work and the shift you can work. Some members may also receive a phone call if we run short of help. Some months we do run short of help.

Steak Fry

October is steak fry month. Bring your family and join us for a great steak dinner. The cost is minimal at $7.00 a person. Reservations are required by October 16 th. Social hour begins at 6 pm. Dinner follows as soon as steak is done to your liking.

October 19 th is our general membership night and we’ll have a brief meeting afterwards. So come join us and support your faithful Grand Knight Richard Dols while enjoying a wonderful meal.

Call Al Loerzel for your reservations. See you there. Ice cream will be furnished by the Ladies Auxiliary.
