GUIDEPOST

Grand Knight's Message

October has gone by so fast. In the month we have taken part in the marathon for non-public education and our Sunday brunches have started. We have also taken a trip to the casino in Hinckley. Bye-bye money. We also held our steak fry, which had a nice turnout.

On we go into the month of November. We will have our memorial mass this month. Note that there is a change in the meeting night and mass. Because Thanksgiving is on the 22nd of November, we have moved the meeting and mass to the 14th of November. I hope this does not cause too many scheduling problems for everyone. However, the reason for changing dates is because people will be out of town for the holiday. A reminder to all who have lost a spouse or child, please feel free to come to this mass. Share in a little food and conversation.

In December we will host the Christmas dinner for seniors and the handicapped. The date for this dinner is December 7th.

I wish all of you a happy turkey day. May you have travel safely and enjoy good health. God Bless.

Dick Smith
Grand Knight

Prayer Concerns……

We pray for the following people.

For Bob Hosford, for the wife of Wally Fletcher, for Byron Bauer and for Dave Van Den Broeke. May we keep these people in our prayers and for all of those who need our prayers.

Ladies Auxiliary

The bowling tournament was fun and Kristi LeValle won the prize for High Series with handicap. Congratulations Kristi.

Anita Loerzel, Bev Bromen, Delores Yenor, Gladys Resler and I participated in the Women's State Auxiliary Workshop at St. Johns Neumann, Eagan, October 13th. It is very worthwhile and helps us understand the Auxiliary requirements for the year. Next year, Blaine-Coon Rapids will be hosting this event.

Some of the ladies are interested in purchasing sweatshirts or polo shirts with the Ladies Auxiliary Logo and name. Contact Margo Arett for more information.

The Ladies are providing the hors d'oeuvres after the Memorial Mass in November.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the Ladies donate money toward a Thanksgiving Basket to a needy family.

Sandy & Ken Resler are looking for volunteers for the Sr. Christmas Party, December 7th. Any help you can give is appreciated.

To our snowbirds -- may you have a safe trip where ever you go this year. See you in the Spring.

May you and yours have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving.

Benefits Corner

We all give thanks for life and health in these turbulent times.

Brother Knights, please remember the watchwords of our order, "Tempus Fugit, Memento Mori". Translated we learned it meant "Time flies, Remember death". It becomes fresh in our minds that we know not when or how, but that death is inevitable. With the tragedy of the World Trade Center and Pentagon we are ever again reminded to take care of our families. The phone calls and messages we have received in the last few days are evidence that this tragedy has reinforced this concern in many of our members.

Please make sure that your family is protected from the unknown. A personal life insurance program outside of your work is an extremely valuable asset in everyone's financial planning portfolio. The Knights of Columbus was founded to take care of families. Please don't procrastinate with your family's future. Call for your appointment today.

Memorial Mass

Our annual memorial mass will be at 7:00 PM November 14th at St. Timothy's Church. After the mass we will go to the annex or the hospitality center for hors d'oeuvres. Please join us for this evening.

Casino Trip Recap

The trip was held on October 14th. We had 40 people join in as we traveled to Hinckley. We were back home at 8:00 pm and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We will shoot for another trip in April of 2002. We will let you know exactly on the date in February.

Marathon Recap

Brother Knights, the marathon for non-public education has come and gone. It was held on Saturday October 6th. The marathon had a good turn out. The fundraising goal was exceeded by 4%. We had a good turn out of Knights. Epiphany's Grand Knight showed up to help us. Outback Steakhouse also helped out by cooking hamburgers. We used 6 cases of hot dogs. We used 13 cases of chips. Lorraine, from St. Tim's, donated the hot dog buns. We donated the rest of the hot dogs for use by the church. Everyone had a good time.

Thank God for our many Blessings!
