Knights of Columbus
Grand Knights Message
Greetings Knights and ladies. Spring is here finally, I hope. The Spring Steak Fry had 44 Knights and ladies in attendance. The steaks were tasty as well as the rest of the meal. The speaker Deacon Don Hamilton gave a nice talk about his job duties at St. Tim’s and his journey to becoming a Deacon.
The last fund raiser, the Tootsie Roll Drive, will be reported on in the June Guidepost. The council year is coming to a close, but there is a lot of planning ahead.
The District Seven Installation of Officers will be hosted by our council on June 24th and the year end dinner will be held on June 27th.
Yours in Christ

Insurance Corner
Is my policy worth keeping?
Question: I have a policy that my dad bought for me as a child. It’s only about $5,000. The premium is minimal, but I have other insurance (term) so I’m not sure of the value of keeping this one. My financial planner is recommending that I cash it in. Should I?
Answer: I researched your policy and found that it was originally issued as a $5,000 policy, but because it is over 30 years old, the death benefit has grown to over $16,000! This growth is a result of our very strong dividend history. Our current dividend rate is a very high 8.15%, and is helping your policy to become even stronger. Even better, unlike your term insurance, this policy is guaranteed to be there when you die!
Additionally, because of our strong dividends, your policy has earned far more in cash value than you (or your father) ever paid in premiums. That’s right – your policy has paid you a considerable profit to own it.
I recommend that you continue paying your policy premium because every dollar is working hard for you, and then contact your Knights of Columbus agent to find out how you can purchase more. You have a Guaranteed Purchase Option on your policy that allows you the opportunity to apply for up to $100,000 of additional Knights of Columbus coverage. A new policy may be guaranteed to pay you a profit, just like your current smaller policy.
You did not say whether you are a member of the Knights of Columbus, but you should consider joining. That way, you can provide the same valuable gift to your family that your father provided you. Send your questions to kcquestions@catholic.org. If you would prefer a personal reply, please be sure to provide your contact information.
