Grand Knights Message
Greetings Knights and ladies. On Thursday March 29, the Knights of Columbus will celebrate Founders Day marking the 125th anniversary of the reception of its charter from the state of Connecticut. Most of you know Father Michael McGivney of St. Mary’s parish in New Haven, Ct. founded the Knights of Columbus as a Catholic men's organization with a system of insurance for members to help their widows and children in case of tragedy.
The Concertina bowl went well with 533 customers dancing and enjoying some good concertina music. Many thanks to the twenty-three workers, Lee Karels and especially Art Ohotto for making the day a success. Art volunteers 80 to 100 hours each year working on advertising, booking musicians and other behind the scenes work.
In March, there will be five Lenten fish fries. This is our major fundraiser for the year. If you prefer not to work, please come and enjoy a good meal.
Yours in Christ,
Dick Dols

Ladies Auxiliary
I want to congratulate all the auxiliary members for the many volunteer hours. A total of 3,484 hours were submitted along with money donated of $1,075. Great job! I also want to thank everyone for all the beautiful articles for the birthright shower along with the pot luck.
April 28th will be the state convention in Lakeville. If you are interested, please call me . I will not be able to attend this year, since the dinner at Ronald McDonald house is on the same day and I am in charge of that.
Since Lent is here for 2007, the fish fries have started and our bake sale is back during them. Let’s bake up a storm, as it is our only fundraiser.

Question: I have a policy with the Knights of Columbus that I purchased back in 1977 from an agent that I really trusted. He had a hard time getting in my door at first, but I really grew to trust him and the life policy he sold me continues to perform great. Unfortunately, he retired in the 1980’s and I’ve had no reason to see an agent since, although I have been called occasionally. Now a new agent is trying really hard to arrange an appointment, but I don’t think I need anything else. I’ll only let him in if you can give me a good reason.
Answer: Well, I enjoy a challenge! You stated that your first agent had a difficult time arranging a visit with you, yet you purchased a policy from him and grew to trust him. I’m sorry that you never allowed another agent the opportunity to serve you. Many things have changed since the 1980’s and your Knights of Columbus field agents are people you should have developed a strong relationship with. Life insurance is not something you should buy and forget about. Insurance needs change and policy values change – yearly. Additionally, many new products have been developed by the Knights of Columbus over the last several years, including the addition of our popular Long Term Care program. You may have missed out on many valuable opportunities. I encourage you to let your field agent in. After all, he is one of us – a trusted brother Knight and he deserves your encouragement, support and hospitality. He is not there to twist your arm into buying unneeded insurance.
