Well, this is the last message from the Grand Knight of 2001-2002.
I have held this chair for the past two years, three total. Now it comes time to turn the gavel over to our Deputy Grand Knight Ken Resler. Ken is young, and knows what he is doing, but we can all be there for him if he needs us. When Ken asks for help in something, please come forward and help.
A couple of weeks ago we lost Byron Bauer. Keep his family in your prayers. We also need to pray for others. For Dave Van den Broeke, for Jane and Frank Nieland. For Jerry Fisher who is going through kidney dialysis. For Larry Silverdahl who will be going through surgery for melanoma cancer. Please keep them all in your prayers.
Thank you for the three great years as Grand Knight.
Peace,
Dick Smith

The ladies celebrated the end of their year at Tasty Pizza and all enjoyed themselves. During this celebration, a donation was made toward a computer for the Rose Center. Mary Hosford is working with the Ronald McDonald House to prepare and serve a meal on June 22nd or 23rd. If you can help, please call Mary.
This will be my final article and soon you'll be reading articles written by our new President Sandy Resler. I am looking forward to working with Sandy and the officers-Anita, Betty, and Jan-- during the upcoming year.
Thank you all once again for the opportunity to serve you.

The year end dinner is a fun way to get together as a group and socialize with our brother Knights. You are all invited and welcome to join us for this year end event. A reservation is required and I do need to hear from you by June 14. Don't hesitate and call me.
The food is always good and the cost will be very reasonable at $5.00 per plate. No need to send it early, I will be collecting at the door. Social hour begins at 6:00PM with a cash bar and the dinner will be served at approximately at 7:00PM. Awards and door prizes will follow immediately after the dinner. We hope to see you there.
Trustee,
Alan Loerzel

Brother Knights' another drive has come and gone. We were short some help, so please consider for next year to lend a hand. All things considered, we made $2,037.96. It should be around the same time as this years. Thank you for those that did help. Our collection once again is going to ARC.

There have already been a number of inquires into the trip. It looks like we should fill all 30 beds, so the first ones in with their down payment will have their spots reserved. The flyer for this trip is enclosed in this issue of the Guidepost.

Life changes create changes not only in our financial and insurance planning, but what we do in our daily lives. I have met with many of you as you considered retirement. Together we have discussed the thought process as well as the financial process. We worked together to answer the questions of how you can prepare for the unexpected when it occurs after retirement. How do we plan for contingencies?
As most of you know, I retired three years ago from a career in the banking industry. Before doing so, Judy and I created a retirement plan for us. Since then, we have had many changes that affected us, including our health, all of our children moving out of state, and our only grandchild being born and living in Texas.
We are once again re-planning our retirement to adapt to the changes in our life. The primary decision we have made will affect my relationship with you, as I will be leaving my career as a Knights of Columbus Field Agent and Benefits Representative. Another person will be assigned to service your Council. The exact date of this transition has yet to be determined and if you are interested in a position with the Knights of Columbus, please call me.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this second career and the opportunity of working with you and getting to know you. I know that you will treat my replacement with the same gracious Knights of Columbus hospitality that you have shown to me. If you have been procrastinating contacting me on anything that you have pending, please call me now and make an appointment so that we can take care it.
Remember, your most important financial goal is to take care of your family. Call your Knights of Columbus Benefits Representative and do an annual check-up. Starting May, 17th all inquiries regarding your Knights of Columbus benefits will be handled by Dale Robinson at phone number 651-653-3946. Either Dale or staff in his office will return your call personally or Dale will assign it to another Field Agent that works or lives in this area. We have current Knights of Columbus Field Agents living in NE Minneapolis, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Spring Lake Park, and Brooklyn Center. If you would be interested in a career as a Knights of Columbus Field Agent, please call Dale Robinson at the above number.
I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting hundreds of new friends these past several years. Both Judy and I have enjoyed attending your council events.
Please always remember, the Knights of Columbus is your fraternal insurance organization. It is your participation in your organizations products that enable us to not only exist as an organization but by doing so, to contribute over 100 million dollars per year to charity. Please continue to support your organization with your purchases. There are no finer products in the market place.
God Bless
Michael Grommesh
Retiree!!
Once again our camping trip will be with the State Family Camporee. We have been doing this for the past few years. It will be August 23-25 at the K.O.A. in Jordan. You must R.S.V.P. by June 15th. Meals can be reserved through the state by August 1st. You can get registration forms and more information by calling Duane Arett.
The yearly parade will be June 29th. We need people to ride the float and pass out tootsie rolls that we have left over from the drive. The parade starts at 1:00 pm. We will meet at St. Tim's around 11:30 and then ride the float over to the parade route. If you are in need of more information call Garry Hallman.
