GUIDEPOST

Grand Knights Message

Greetings Knights and ladies. May was a relaxing month for me as well as the council. Jim Ackermann and I attended the state convention May 18-20. Mass was celebrated Saturday morning with meetings most of the day. Blaine/Coon Rapids council offered a resolution for insurance coverage for all degree team members while traveling to and from and during the exemplification of new members. Because this is an election year for state officers, the incumbents move up and the lowest position, warden, is elected. The new warden is Joe Konrardy chosen over six candidates. Saturday evening was the convention banquet where one of the speakers was Nathan Bauer, a Special Olympic athlete, who gave an interesting talk. Sunday morning was the awards presentation. Our council won the Certificate of Directors Award for Achievements in Programs and Membership. The convention closed with a mass presided by Archbishop Harry Flynn.

The Blazing 4th parade, Officers Installation and Year-End Dinner will be after the July Guidepost is printed, in which case I will report on next month.

Keep in mind membership recruitment through the summer. I would like to thank every one who helped me and supported the many council activities we had this past year. July starts the new council year. I am looking forward to the future success of our council.

 Yours in Christ

Dick Dols

 Notes of Interest

There will be no Officers Meeting July 4th due to the holiday. Knights are needed to volunteer for officer positions in the future, namely Deputy Grand Knight 07- 08, Treasurer 08-09, Tootsie Roll chairman 08 and Lecturer. If interested in any of these positions, call the Grand Knight.

Prayer Concerns

For Mary Hosford, who had polyps removed and gall bladder surgery.

For Al Lovejoy, friend of Bob Cuddigan, who had surgery for prostate cancer.

For Bill Revering, (hip replacement) and Bert Albers (prostate surgery).

We pray for these and all of our members and their families.

Ladies Auxiliary

I know this is late, better late than never. I want to thank all the auxiliary members for all the help with our “40th Anniversary Dinner”. We have “40 years” to be very proud of, so much has been accomplished.

Ladies don’t forget bowling for fun is September 15th. It is hosted by Bloomington Marian Council. The cost is $25.00 for bowling and lunch and only $12.00 for the lunch. Gladys Resler is in charge of this event.

Help is needed for the Special Olympic Bowling Classic held on November 9-11. More information will follow later.

Our first meeting for 2007-2008 will be held on September19th, a potluck with our Knights and our meeting will follow.

Have a safe and fun summer (what’s left of it).

Mary Hosford
President

Please bring items to a KC meeting this summer. If you have questions please call Gerald or Carol Arel.

Golf Outing

It is golf fun time again. This year’s fun will be held the last Saturday in July. It will be held at Majestic Golf Course. There is a party at Jay’s (same place as last year). Call Vern or Barb Shereck. Please call us to get your name on the list. As always, this is a fun time for all.

Insurance Corner

Question:  I have received a letter from my Insurance Agent stating that he will contact me soon, but I have not heard from him.

Answer:  Since becoming your council’s agent, I have been working to meet with every family in the council and I am using a list provided by Supreme.  Many of the telephone numbers listed in their system are no longer valid and when I check the phone directory there is no new number listed.  In other cases, I am getting letters back because some of you have moved long enough ago that the post office will no longer forward the letters.

Solution:  If you have gotten a letter from me, but have not gotten a follow up telephone call, please call me at 651-633-6516 and leave your name, council # and current telephone number and I will return your call.

Thank you for your assistance in getting the word out.

Fraternally,
David P. Stanton
Field Agent
