Grand Knight's Message

Worthy Brother Knights. Before I start my year as your Grand Knight, I want to thank you for all of your help in the past year. Your advice, kind words, and encouragement helped me through my year as your Deputy Grand Knight.

With this being my first Grand Knights' message, I am looking forward to a fun year. I would like to thank all of my officers in advance for their work in the next year. I hope to fulfill the faith you have placed in me.

I attended the state convention in May down in Rochester. A good time was had by all. Rumor has it that the good times spread out into the hallway just outside the state's hospitality room. There were two presentations. The first was a tape from Supreme on the Hero's Fund and its affects on those that it helped. The second was on S.A.M. this stands for stuffed animal ministry. This is a program that provides stuffed animals for aid and comfort to those in need. This program only has one stipulation that the animals are not resold or raffled. I have a card with contact information if you have a need for this.

This month our prayer concerns are for Len Resler for his treatment of prostate cancer. We also pray for all those that who are traveling this summer. May everyone have a safe and enjoyable time.

Peace,

Ken Resler
Grand Knight

St. Joseph's Festival

August is the wind down of the summer and the start of activities for the council year. First up is the St. Joseph Festival (Lino Lakes) on August 10th and 11th. Our participation will be on Saturday evening, August 10th.

The kickoff to the festival starts with mass under the big top, followed by food, drink, kids games, and a dance. Our council has, for ten years, helped with the food part, both in preparation and serving. From 6 to 8 PM, our council will serve about 400 brats, 200 hot dogs, assorted trays of nachos and cheese, corn on the cob, and candy. So, help is needed during this very busy time. Usually we get there about 4:30 and get set up so that we can cook during the mass and be ready for the rush immediately after mass. By 8 PM most can go home or hang around and enjoy the music.

There is nothing better than going to mass outside and smelling the brats cooking on one side of the tent while on the other side the sounds of kegs being tapped fill the air. Be part of this great tradition; sign up during the July general meeting or call me, Marc Peters.
