I am rather sad while I write this, today we said good bye to Nancy Olson Nieland, daughter of Frank and Jane Nieland of our council. Keep this family and all others in your prayers.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I wish you all a Happy New Year. Yet, let us not forget the year of 2001.
I want to take this time to thank all who had a hand in the Senior party in December. I am not going to name names, because I might miss some one.
We need to continue to do some recruiting in 2002. If you need some material give me a call please and I will send some to you.
Please prayer for the following people:
Ray Peters, The Nieland family, Dave Van DeBrooke, Byron Bauer, Benita Gregerson, and Loren Yenor. May we keep these people in our prayers.

Grand Knight
Thanks to all the ladies who volunteered at the Seniors Christmas Party. The food and entertainment was enjoyed by all. A Special Thank You to Sandy & Ken Resler for all their time and commitment to this annual project.
Margo Arett is taking orders for sweatshirts and polo shirts with the KC or Ladies logo plus name. Cost $19.00. If you are interested, call Margo Arett.
Volunteer hours need to be tallied and submitted to Jean Ackermann by early January 2002 for January through December 2001. If you haven't completed it yet, contact Jean.
There will not be a January meeting, however, January 26th, 2002, the Ladies will handle the coat check. The proceeds will go to the Sept. 11th fund. Jan Dols & Anita Loerzel are chairing this event. Please call Jan or Anita if you are planning to attend and can volunteer some time to help us check coats. We will begin around 10 a.m. and go until about 12:30 a.m.
May you all have a happy and safe Holiday Season.

Another year has become history. On behalf of Judy and myself, we hope that you enjoyed a Happy and Blessed Holiday, and wish you each the best of Good Wishes for the coming year.
As you reflect on the past year, have your family values changed since the September 11th tragedy? The Knights of Columbus created a special "Hero's Fund" to assist those involved, and many of us sent money to help, but we all know in our hearts that this minimal assistance won't replace the loved one that was lost, nor the financial loss, if they had not been adequately provided for in advance.
Many of you have enough insurance through your employer or elsewhere to pay your house mortgage and other bills in the event of a tragedy. Is this enough to continue to provide for the family and carry them through the time of sorrow? We will help you evaluate that need. Call us today. Create your own "Hero's Fund" to take care of your family!!
Judy and I have been blessed with 40 wonderful years together. We plan on taking a three-week trip to celebrate that occasion. If you have been waiting to call me, please do so now. If you want to get together in February, we can schedule that now. While I am away, if you have something of an emergency nature, please call our General Agents office at 651- 653-3946.

The first major fundraiser for the year 2002 will be the 24th annual concertina bowl. As usual many volunteer workers are needed to make this a success. Your help is needed in the kitchen, working the raffle and as door guards.
Shifts will be the same as last year. Dick Dols will coordinate the workers. Volunteers please call Dick. Couples can work together on this event.
Brother Knights, another senior Christmas party has come to a successful close. We served between 320-350 seniors. We had plenty of help, including teens from our youth program. Our entertainment was well received. Santa made his usual appearance putting a smile on everyones' face. Lorraine Koss worked her magic in the kitchen. The only problem we had was with the steamer. A repairman showed up in time for us to use it. Thank you to all for your help. Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year and I hope to see you all again at this event.
Is Your Money Safe?
Have stock market waters and savings plans been rough? Have they been getting rougher in recent months? How did your year-end reports look?
There is smooth sailing ahead with a Knights of Columbus Annuity. Our fixed-interest rates are generally the best guarantees you can find for your money. Take a look at the advantages of a K of C annuity:
Safety - Stock market fluctuations have no effect on the principal invested.
Liquidity - Principal plus interest can be quickly accessed. There are no commissions, loads, sales fees, or set up charges on your money. You may remove 10% of your money each year without surrender fees.
Tax Deferred - Unlike bank cd's, the growth is tax deferred.
Avoids Probate - Payment is made directly to the named beneficiary on the contract.
Life Time Income - An annuity can provide income that cannot be outlived.
Protection of Assets - We will work with your attorney and/or ours, to help you preserve your annuity to the extent that the law allows in the event you must enter a nursing home.
I would like to invite any Brother Knight in good standing with the Blaine Knights of Columbus 5141 to join our ranks in the Fourth degree of the order. Our motto is patriotism, which I believe is very fitting in lieu of September 11th, 2001. As a member of 5141 and past Grand Knight, I am very proud of the Fourth degree. I just finished my year of being Leader Faithful Navigator of the Assembly. Now I am membership director and I am offering my fellow Brother Knights to join us. The exemplification is being held in North Mankato at the Best Western on April 19th and 20th 2002. I have several tuxedos in my possession that can save you money if they fit. We also have a deal with Knight Formal Wear for $150.00 complete. I am willing to sit down and talk to any Brother Knight about the 4th Degree. Call me or ask 763-757-4829. My name is Garry Hallman PKG & PFN Admiral.
