Grand Knights Message
Greetings Knights and ladies. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.
One activity I worked in November which was quite rewarding was the Special Olympics Bowling classic. All the athletes were upbeat and excited about their bowling successes. The Minnesota State Council and I would like to thank the six volunteers for giving up most of their day for this worthy cause.
The Memorial Mass, which was earlier than usual, had a turnout of around forty people. I would like to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for bringing the Appetizers for the Luncheon after the Mass.
The November 11th Breakfast was the first of three Egg Bakes. The Egg Bakes were excellent as well as the other food served. Both shifts had good manpower. The second shift had more help than usual, which makes clean up and tear down most efficient. Thank you to everyone who helped out that weekend.
In December, the Senior Citizens Christmas, where we entertain the Seniors from the Blaine area, is one of our largest activities. This is a family activity, so please come help, enjoy the entertainment, and a visit from Santa.
Please set aside some time for this great community get together and fellowship activity.
On a different note, I received an email from Supreme stating that last month the Knights of Columbus insurance program exceeded $65 billion for the first time. With more than $14 billion in assets, the Knights of Columbus Insurance company ranks in the Fortune 100 largest companies.
In closing I wish each one of you and your families a Blessed Holiday season.
Your in Christ,
Dick Dols
Grand Knight
Ladies Auxiliary
The Memorial Mass that was held on November 7th had a very good turn out. Thanks for the support for our deceased KC’s, spouses and children. The auxiliary did a wonderful job with the appetizers.
The Special Olympics Fall classic at Southtown bowl had a very good turn out. Many from our council, Jan and Dick Dols, Mary Roiger, Judy and Nick Van DenBroeke, Jean Ackermann, Kristi LaValle and I, helped out. We can be very thankful and count our blessings when we see the athletes with their challenges.
The auxiliary Christmas party will be on December 12th at 6:30 pm at the home of Patty Korkowski. Her phone number is 763-493-XXXX. Please bring a gift to exchange and a potluck item.
There is no meeting in January, so, until then, have a safe and Merry Christmas.

FROM THE DESK OF FR. CHUCK
ADVENT 2007
Each year we have four weeks of Advent to prepare for the birth of our Savior into the world. Christmas is one of the most beloved feasts on the Church year. Children are excited, and we become enthused right along with them.
Now is a time of preparation. We want to enter into the depth of meaning that this season brings. We don’t want to stop with the externals. We notice that the church is different, decorated in the deep blue of the season. It is a time for quieting ourselves in the midst of a hectic lifestyle.
Advent begins a new Church Year. Take some time for prayer. Reflect on the SCRIPTURES FOR THE SUNDAY liturgy each week. In Old Testament days, they were longing for the coming of the Messiah, and now John the Baptist makes the unequaled announcement “The reign of God is at hand.”
The ADVENT WREATH is a way of marking time as we approach the Incarnation (God made man), the Birth of Jesus.
The NATIVITY SET is always a favorite of the season. We are reminded of the story of Jesus being born in humble surroundings in a far away place with His parents, shepherds and animals nearby. The nostalgia of the scene can overpower the miracle that is occurring, and still occurs today…that God is born into our midst.
May the blessings of the season be with all Knights and their families as we choose to involve ourselves in the mystery of Emmanuel, God is with us.

Insurance Notes
QUESTION: I’m a new Knights of Columbus member. Can you please explain who can and cannot purchase Knights of Columbus insurance? Are my wife and step-children eligible?
ANSWER: Your wife and dependent children are eligible to purchase Knights of Columbus insurance. This includes stepchildren and adopted children, as well. In fact, your wife can continue to purchase Knights of Columbus insurance and annuity products on herself and dependent children even after your death for up to one year as long as you, the member, owned a Knights of Columbus insurance product. Once your dependent children turn age 18, they are no longer eligible to purchase a Knights of Columbus insurance product unless their policy has a valuable Guaranteed Purchase Option rider, or unless they become a member themselves (if they are Catholic males) or marry a husband who becomes a member.
Bottom line, be sure to become an insurance member yourself to ensure that your wife and children can continue to purchase needed Knights of Columbus products. In addition, please consider purchasing a life policy on your children before they turn 18!
We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic people to join our professional field force of Knights of Columbus agents. Call or email us if you, or somebody you know, may be interested.

2nd Annual Breakfast with Santa
This is the Big One. Last year we raised $943.00 for our charity Wee Care
We Share. My goal this year is $1,200.00. This is doable, but will require a
lot of extra hands. This year in addition to St. Nicolas making an
appearance, I have it on authority that members of the choir will come sing
some Christmas carols. Also, Wee care We Share will have their winter coat
drive. The Ladies auxiliary will be handing out buttons promoting
Christmas. Again we need extra hands. If you need to sign up call Bill at
763-786-XXXX. If you sign up at the meeting, please don't duplicate with a
call.
Thanks for all your support.

Wild Game Feed Night

The 2008 version of the wild game feed will be held on January 12th. It will run from 5:30 - 7:30. It will be held at St. Timothy’s in the hospitality center. The proceeds for this event will be for St. Timothy’s Outreach. Any questions, please contact Dan Otte at 763-757-XXXX.
