GUIDEPOST

Grand Knights Message

Gentlemen, while writing this we just finished the July 16, 2008 general membership meeting. July and August are slow months for us but I have one major announcement. Our council is no longer in District 7. At the state mid summer meeting they announced the redistricting of the entire state. We are now in District 51. Our new district deputy was also announced. Our DD for District 51 is Garry Hallman.

Our Financial secretary Jim Ackermann is in the process of redesigning our council’s web site. We are looking for any digital pictures of our council’s activities you may have. There are several ways to get them to Jim. First, is to use the email link off of our current web site. Click on the link and attach the pictures to the email. Another way to get the pictures to Jim would be to save them to a disk and deliver that disk to Jim. If you are still having problems getting them to Jim, contact Jim or I and we will help you.

Our DD announced a new program called Football Frenzy. The short explanation is for a donation of $10.00 you get a ticket. This ticket is good for the last 10 games of this year’s football season. During these games you could win anywhere from 10 dollars to 300 dollars.

Please keep in you prayers the following people. Dick Smith, Gerry Korkowski, Wally Fletcher, William Ellenbeck, and Virginia Hallman. Also, please keep in you prayers all of our service men and women serving around the world.

We have three upcoming events in the month of August. They are Twins night at the dome on August 11th. The other two events are our meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Ladies Auxiliary

Many thanks to Mary Hosford for her many years of dedicated service as President of our Auxiliary.  Mary’s spiritual leadership and commitment to the Knights of Columbus will be fondly remembered for many years.

The Board (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Trustees) will have a 2008-2009 planning meeting August 20, 7:30 pm at St. Tim’s.  Our 1st general meeting of the year will be September 17 when we have a potluck for our Knights.

Each year, the annual membership dues are due by September 1. The Annual State Auxiliary Bowling Tournament is September 20 at the Brunswick Bowling Center in Brooklyn Park.  It is hosted by St. Gerard’s Auxiliary.  The cost for bowling and lunch is $30 or lunch only is $19.  Registration is due before September 1.  Please contact Gladys Resler, registration chairperson, at telephone (651) 285-XXXX.

As I begin my term as President of our auxiliary, I feel honored and privileged to once again lead this great organization.

May we continue to see God’s blessings in all we do.

Jean Ackermann, President

Insurance Note

QUESTION:  My wife and I recently had a KC agent explain long term care insurance to us.  I’m afraid my wife might not qualify for it because of a recent stroke.  However, the agent informed us about a program that will still give her discounted services.  Can you please explain this further?

ANSWER:  You must be referring to our affiliation with Life Plans Provider Pathway service.  This allows immediate family members of Knights of Columbus Long Term Care insurance holders to obtain deep discounts on products and services that may be needed, even though they have no insurance with the Order.   For example, even though your wife may be uninsurable she may still qualify for reduced rates on home care or nursing home services, wheelchairs, walkers, etc., simply because you own a Knights of Columbus Long Term Care policy.  In fact, even your parents may receive discounts!  Provider Pathways provides a full range of options for long term care at discounted rates to all Knights of Columbus Care policy holders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law.  So, even if your loved ones are uninsurable it may still be a wise decision for you to purchase a Knights of Columbus Long Term Care program for yourself just so your loved ones can qualify for these incredible discounts.  Call your agent for more details.

We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic people to join our professional field force of Knights of Columbus agents.  Call or email us if you, or somebody you know, may be interested.

Send your questions to kcquestions@catholic.org or call us at 651-757-4400.  If you would prefer a personal reply, please be sure to provide your contact information.
