GUIDEPOST

Greetings brother knights. Well the 2003 - 2004 fraternal year is under way. We have had the July meeting and I was pleased at the turn out. Please keep on coming. If you have a suggestion for the meetings, please feel free to let me know and we will see if we can incorporate it.

The only events to talk about were installation of officers, Blaine's Blazin 4th parade, and the year-end dinner. We had a good turn out for the dinner and installation. Our sister council at St Joe's had all of their officers installed. The year-end dinner was good as usual. The parade was a little light in attendance for knights, but we got through it anyhow. Thank you to my daughter Ashley, son Justin and Justin's friend Stephen for handing out tootsie rolls.

Our district deputy Marc Peters made it apparent that the state intends to push recruiting hard this year. I do not know what that means yet, but I am sure he will be asking for a lot of help this year. To that end, I am going to once again sound the call for you individually to ask one gentleman this year and try to get him into the council. Also, to that end, the church has asked us to buy t-shirts for the carnival committee. We, as a council are going to do this. The shirts will have our emblem and donated by Knight's of Columbus on the sleeve of the shirts to try and raise awareness at the church.

Ladies Auxillary

Here we are at the beginning of the 2003-2004 year. Thank you to Marc and Sharon Peters for the wonderful dinner at the Installation of Officers. It was a fun evening. Even though there were power problems at the Year End Dinner, it seemed that everyone had an enjoyable time. It was nice to see all those who attended. On June 28th, we participated in Blaine's Blazin 4th Parade. Though turnout to ride the float was low, the weather was perfect and we had a fun time.

On August 9th, we will again be going to the Ronald McDonald house to serve a picnic style dinner. Thank you to Mary Hosford for all of her hard work on planning this event. We also have St. Joe's Carnival and St. Tim's Carnivals coming up in the next month or two. Please watch the newsletter for dates.

On Saturday September 27th, it's the annual bowling tournament in Faribault. Please contact Gladys Resler if you are interested in attending.

On August 20th, the officers will meet at 7:30 to work on the calendar for the upcoming year. Please let me know if you cannot attend this meeting. Enjoy the remainder of the summer, and please keep our ladies and their Knights in your prayers.

Lecturer Notes

The membership meetings are held in the Hospitality Center at 7:30. Lunch follows the meetings which in August will be choice of root beer floats or ice cream sundae's. If the weather delivers high temperatures the meeting will be moved to the annex which is air conditioned.

Fishing Trip

this issue is the last one that I will be asking for the money needed to go on the fishing trip weekend. Please send a check to me in the mail for the $100.00. There probably won't be a golf outing on this trip.

 Year End Dinner

A note about the year end dinner. Some of you who attended and received door prizes were lucky and some not so lucky. I am sorry to say that those who won gift certificates to Tequilaberry's are the unlucky ones. The certificate is no good anymore. They went out of business and did not say anything when we received them. This is fraud but they will not repay us. I am sorry.

If anyone is interested in just one day, Saturday, please just come. There are many activities planned. Lunch and dinner may be purchased at the site.
