Knights of Columbus
GUIDEPOST
Grand Knights Message
Greetings Knights and ladies. I hope everyone had a prayerful holy week and a Happy Easter. During holy week I received an e-mail from Supreme as follows: “Pope Benedict XVI approved a decree recognizing the heroic virtue of Fr. Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. The pope’s declaration significantly advances the priest process toward sainthood. If canonized, Fr. McGivney would be the first American born priest to be so honored.”
Reviewing past activities, the March 9th breakfast, which was an egg bake, went quite well. There was lots of help for both shifts. Thanks to all. Our proceeds were lower, as ingredients for ten egg bakes are costly. Never the less, they were delicious and we had good feed back from parishioners. The last two March fish fries had 404 and 432 paying customers.
Thanks to the many volunteers who helped with setting up, cooking, frying, keeping food on the line, dishwashing, shopping and the dreaded Saturday morning cleaning up the fryers crew, which I was a member of. Food cost went up 16% from last year. Profit was $6,240.42, which was $191.13 less than last year. Profits will go into the council charity fund. Some monies will be earmarked toward hiring a cleaning service to clean the range hood, double stove, filters and dishwasher. Additionally, the council shares with St. Tim’s half the cost of the maintenance agreement with St. Cloud Refrigeration for inspection and cleaning of the walk in freezer, walk in cooler, ice maker and upright refrigerator.
April brings us the spring steak fry and the last fund raiser of the year, the annual Tootsie Roll Drive. Also at the April meeting, the first round of nominations for officers for the year 08-09 will take place. Please consider a position.

Tootsie Roll Campaign
The annual Tootsie Roll Drive will be held April 25th, 26th, and 27th. Like last year, we will be handing out Tootsie Rolls outside of St. Tim’s that weekend. Any one who has not worked this event before should know that it is easy and fun. Smile and offer everyone a Tootsie Roll, donation or not. All proceeds go to ARC Greater Twin Cities, serving Anoka County. Call Dick Dols at 763-786-XXXX and he will schedule you on your preferred shift. Ladies and teenagers are most welcome to help. Thirty volunteers are needed. Every one who calls me to schedule a shift will be entered into a drawing. The prize for the lucky winner is $20.00.
