Grand Knights Message

Hi there! As I write this, we will be heading into Easter, which is just a few days away. We are also doing our last fish fry for the Lenten season. I want to thank all Brother Knights and their ladies for the work you did at this function, from setting up to tearing down. Both men and ladies out did themselves. Oh yes, and those confirmation groups! Wow what a job you kids did. Thank you.

Our last brunch will be in April the 2nd Sunday. This will be a free brunch to who ever comes. We are also having a membership drive that day. Please come down and help.

This month our prayer concern is for Byron Bauer on the death of his sister in March.

Peace,

Dick Smith
Grand Knight

Tootsie-Roll Drive

Brother Knights, April is right around the corner. With that, it is time for the Tootsie Roll Drive. It will be held on Friday April 26th and Saturday April 27th. This is a most worthy event to help with, because the proceeds go to the develop-mentally disabled. A sign up sheet was passed around at the March general membership meeting. Thank you to those that have already signed up. If you would like to help, there are time slots available. Please call Ken Resler at 763-576-3942. There is one change this year as we will not be at the Kmart in Blaine. We will be at the Wal-Mart in Fridley on University Ave. instead.

Benefits Corner

Life changes create changes not only in our financial and insurance planning, but what we do in our daily lives. I have met with many of you as you considered retirement. Together we have discussed the thought process as well as the financial process. We worked together to answer the questions of how you can prepare for the unexpected when it occurs after retirement. How do we plan for contingencies?

As most of you know, I retired three years ago from a career in the banking industry. Before doing so, Judy and I created a retirement plan for us. Since then, we have had many changes that affected us, including our health, all of our children moving out of state, and our only grandchild being born and living in Texas.

We are once again re-planning our retirement to adapt to the changes in our life. The primary decision we have made will affect my relationship with you, as I will be leaving my career as a Knights of Columbus Field Agent and Benefits Representative. Another person will be assigned to service your Council. The exact date of this transition has yet to be determined and if you are interested in a position with the Knights of Columbus, please call me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this second career and the opportunity of working with you and getting to know you. I know that you will treat my replacement with the same gracious Knights of Columbus hospitality that you have shown to me. If you have been procrastinating contacting me on anything that you have pending, please call me now and make an appointment so that we can take care it.

Remember, your most important financial goal is to take care of your family. Call your Knights of Columbus Benefits Representative and do an annual check-up.

God Bless!!
